Dal always acts as a great support for rice & it is also a rich source of various valuable nutrients. This dish is a must item for all Indian kitchens particularly in summer, because green mangoes are mostly available during summer.
Ingredients:
- Green mango- 1 cup (minced)
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Masoor dal (red lentil)- 1 cup
- Cumin powder- 1 tsp
- Ginger- 1 tsp (diced)
- Salt- As per taste
- Garam masala- 1 tsp
- Mustard seeds- 1 tsp
- Sugar- 1 tsp
- Ghee/clarified butter- 2-3 tbsp
- Green chillies- 2
- Red chilli- 2 (dry)
- Curry leaves- 1 bunch
Direction:
- Wash the dal well under running water.
- Take a large sized saucepan & boil the dal.
- Add the salt along with the turmeric powder & sugar.
- Now pour the mango pieces.
- Stir well & then pour the half of the ginger along with the garam masala & cumin powder.
- Stir properly & allow it to cook until the lentil & the mangos are tender.
- Take it off from the ghee & place it separately.
- Now take a frying pan & heat ghee on medium temperature.
- Pour the mustard seeds.
- When it begins to splutter then add the chopped green chillies, split red chillies, curry leaves & the leftover ginger.
- Allow it to fry for almost 2-4 minutes & then pour the cooked dal-mango in the frying pan.
- Mix well on minimum temperature & serve hot.
