Daal ghosht is an incomparable dish with the combination of dal or lentils and meat (Lamb or goat).
Ingredients:
Masoor dal- 1 cup (soaked in hot water for almost 15 minutes)
Onion- 2 (finely sliced and paste)
Meat ((Lamb or goat) – 1kg boneless, cut into small pieces
Vegetable oil- 4 tbsp/ ghee
Salt as per taste
Garlic paste-1 ½ tbsp
Ginger paste-1 tbsp
Cumin powder ½ tsp
Coriander powder- ½ tsp
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
Red chilli powder- as much heat you can enjoy
Cardamom- 6/7
Cloves- 5/6
Cinnamon stick- 2 medium size
Lemon juice- ½ tsp
To garnish- coriander leaves.
Tomato puree- 2 tbsp
Yoghurt- 3 tbsp (beaten)
Direction:
Take a deep bowl and boil the soaked masoor dal, with a pinch of salt & turmeric powder.
Take a frying pan and heat up with ghee. Fry the sliced onion and keep in a separate container.
Add cinnamon, cardamom and cloves in the remaining ghee and fry the meat until it turns a little brown.
Then add ginger, garlic and yoghurt, mix properly. Now add remaining masalas, like- cumin, salt, coriander, tomato puree, red chilli and turmeric.
Fry the whole mixture properly and then add the boiled dal. Stir continuously until mix well.
Turn off the heat and add lime juice. Garnish the top with coriander leaves and daal ghosht is ready to serve.
