This is a very tasty lentil dish that is prepared in almost every Indian Kitchen. This nice vegetarian dish is well known in the whole world for its rich taste and aroma.
Ingredients:
- Urad daal- 1 cup
- Onion- 1 (minced finely)
- Kidney beans (red)/rajma- 1 tbsp
- Ginger- 1inch
- Tomato- 1 (diced finely)
- Butter- 2 tbsp
- Malai/stirred cream (fresh)- ½ cup
- Stirred curd- ½ cup
- Garlic paste- 1-2 tsp
- Minced coriander leaves
- Green chilli- 2-3 (diced)
- Salt- As per taste
- Garam masala- ½ tsp
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Corriender powder- ½ tsp
- Cumin seeds- 1 tsp
- Red chilli powder- As much heat you can enjoy
Direction:
- Soak the rajma in water overnight.
- Take a pressure cooker & pour enough water with a pinch of salt.
- Add the soaked rajma along with the urad daal.
- Allow it to cook for almost 25-30 minutes (till they get tender).
- Now crush the boiled dal & rajma & allow it to cook again 15-20 minutes.
- Pour the cream along with the curd.
- Take a kadai/Chinese wok & heat oil on the medium temperature.
- Add the garlic paste & cumin seeds.
- When cumin seeds begin to crackle add the chopped onion.
- Fry it till it turns golden brown in colour.
- Add the tomato pieces along with the ginger & green chillies.
- Fry for a few minutes & then add the salt, dhania powder/coriander powder, turmeric & red chilli powder.
- Stir well & fry for a few more minutes.
- Now pour the dal & allow it to boil a little bit.
- Scatter the garam masala & stir well.
- Add the butter to enhance flavour.
- Take it off from the heat & garnish with coriander leaves.
- Serve this hot with rice, roti, paratha.
