After a busy week we just love to get some extra sleep in weekends & we become late risers. In such a situation you can’t prepare breakfast for your family. Brunch would be the ideal preparation for them. So try the following dish & enjoy your weekend brunch.
Ingredients:
- Ham- 6 slices
- Tomato (sliced- 6)
- English muffin- 6
- Swiss cheese- 6 (slices)
- Milk- 2 cups
- Butter- ¼ cup
- Egg- 8
- Sweet mustard- 3 tbsp
- Lemon juice- 2 tsp
- Pepper- ¼ tsp
- Salt- ¼ tsp
Direction:
- At 190 degree C (375 degree F) preheat the oven.
- Now take a glass made 13- x 9-inch baking dish & grease it well.
- Use your knife to chop the English muffins horizontally in halves & use the mustard as a spread over the muffins.
- Put the chopped muffins (chopped side up) over the dish & then place the ham on the top.
- Now chop every piece of cheese diagonally in halves & place a single triangular piece over every ham.
- Place it separately & put the unused cheese in your refrigerator.
- Now put the unused half muffin (chopped side up) along with the sliced tomato.
- Take 3 eggs & separate the yolks in a small bowl.
- Use a plastic wrap to cover it & place it in your refrigerator for preparing sauce.
- In a medium sized bowl add the unused eggs along with the earlier 3 egg whites, pepper, milk & salt.
- Mix well & pour it on the top of the muffins.
- Cover the whole thing & for almost 4-12 hours place it in your refrigerator.
- Baste the English muffin slices with the prepared egg mixture using a spoon. You can also use a Turkey baster.
- Decorate the remaining cheese over the top.
- For almost 40-50 minutes allow it to bake in the centre of your baking oven (till the egg mixture gets the firm texture or turns golden in colour).
- Scatter the onions over it.
- In the meantime take another small sized sauce pan & add together 50 ml water along with pepper, egg yolks (reserved earlier).
- Place it over moderate temperature & whisk well.
- Allow it to cook for almost 5-6 minutes or until you get quite thick texture.
- Remove from heat.
- Stir well with juice as well as butter.
- Serve hot along with strata
