It is a great appetizer .It is non veg take on the classic Bengali snack called kachuri which is a fried stuffed roti (Indian bread).
Ingredients:
Rohu fish- 500 gm (cut into small pieces)
Potato-500gm (cut into pieces)
Flour-1kg
Ginger paste-1 tsp
Hing/ Asafoetida- A pinch of
Chilli powder- 1 tsp
Cumin paste- ½ tsp
Salt- as per taste
Red dry chilli- 1-2 whole
Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
Oil (groundnut)- 400 gm
Onion (cut into rings), coriander leaves-To garnish (optional)
Direction:
Clean the fish pieces properly and boil on medium heat.
In a separate saucepan boil the potato pieces.
Once they are done remove them from heat & take off the potato skin.
Mash those fish pieces & potato pieces. Mix them properly.
Take a kadai/ Chinese wok & heat oil, add red dry chillies.
Fry them for a few seconds on low heat.
Add jeera/cumin paste, chilli powder, ginger, hing, turmeric powder.
Add the fish-potato mixture. Heat it on medium temperature.
Fry it till becomes brown in colour (make a solid paste).
In separate container mix flour, salt, little bit of oil & water.
Make a thick dough. Create small dumplings of that dough.
Make a hole in the middle of each dumplings & stuff them with the fried mixture.
Now seal the edge. Take a kadai and heat oil in it.
Fry those dumplings on medium heat (till they turn golden in colour).
Remove from heat & keep in a serving plate.
Garnish with coriander leaves & onion rings.
The mouth watering appetizer is ready.
