For many Indian families dal/lentil is an essential item for their meal. They just love to have dal with rice or roti. Lentils are also a great provider of protein. With some usual ingredients you can easily prepare some tasty dal.
Ingredients:
- Arhar dal/lentil- 50 gm
- Green gram lentil- 50 gm
- Horse beans/chane ki dal- 50 gm
- Cumin seeds- ½ tsp
- Salt- as per taste
- Chilli powder- as much heat you can enjoy
- Asafoetida/hing- A pinch of
- Garam masala- ½ tsp
- Lemon- 1
- Turmeric powder- ½ tsp
- Ghee/clarified butter- 2 tbsp
- Coriander powder- 1 tsp
- Coriander leaves- 1 tbsp
Direction:
- Take a large sized bowl & combine all the lentils.
- Now wash it properly.
- Allow it to soak for almost ½ an hour.
- Take a pressure cooker & pour the lentils along with turmeric powder, spice blends, water (4 cups) & salt.
- Let it cook well & take it off from the oven.
- Heat clarified butter in a kadai or Chinese wok over medium temperature.
- Then add the cumin seeds along with asafoetida.
- Allow the cumin seeds to splutter & pour the coriander powder, boiled lentils & red chilli powder.
- Stir well & scatter the coriander leaves (diced).
- Before serving add the lemon juice.
