Among Bengalis posto/poppy seeds preparation is a must have, especially with the lentils. Irrespective of age & sex people just love to have posto. So try the following recipe to know its mouthwatering taste.
Ingredients:
- 1 cup- Poppy seeds (posto)
- According to poppy seeds- Coriander leaves (chopped)
- Salt- As per taste
- 1 (small size) – Onion (finely sliced)
- ¼th cup- Maida
- ½ cup (For deep fry) – White oil/ mustard oil
- 1-2 – Green chilies (diced)
Direction:
- Soak the poppy seeds in warm water overnight.
- It will make your blending process easy.
- While blending make sure you are using very little water so that you can get a thick paste.
- With the blended poppy seeds now mix salt, chopped chilies, diced onion & minced coriander leaves.
- Mix all the ingredients well.
- Take a frying pan or Chinese wok & heat oil over moderate temperature.
- Add a spoonful of the mixture into the hot oil or you can use your hands to make small cakes.
- Fry it well (till it turns golden brown in color) & then flip the bora/cake.
- After deep frying take it off from the oven & place it over a paper towel to get rid of the excess oil.
- Now serve it with steamed rice & urad dal.
