For halwa we Indians mostly like to use the carrot, but here is something different also. Try this tasty halwa & get overwhelmed with joy.
Ingredients:
- Hare singhade (fresh water caltrop)- 500 gm
- Thickened milk- 100 gm
- Milk- 1 cup
- Sugar- 125 gm
- Clarified butter/ghee- 1 tbsp
- Cashew- 6-7
- Cardamom powder- ΒΌ tsp
- Almond- 6-7
- Edible yellow colour- A few drops
Direction:
- Firstly remove the skin of the singhade & then grate them.
- Take a pan & heat ghee/clarified butter on the medium temperature.
- Now fry the singhade in ghee.
- Pour the thickened milk & allow it to fry till turn the light brown in colour.
- In a separate container boil the milk & add sugar into it.
- Pour the thickened milk mixture & stir well continuously till it thickens further.
- Add a few drops (2-3) of yellow colour & take it off from the heat.
- Before serving decorate with almonds (minced) along with cashew (chopped) & cardamom powder.
